My husband has quit too!

I quit as of Jul 31. About a week later my husband said he was quitting too. Several times we had tried to quit together but then would give up the effort together, "Want to go get some smokes?" Or I would "try" to quit and then bail out on Friday afternoon when he came home from work. Weekend smokers, that's what we thought we would be...he was able to do that but I never was. I didn't take up smoking until I was in my late 40's, and I know I never would have if I hadn't had a spouse that smoked. I don't blame him, I was the dumb one...Anyway, the purpose of this post is kind of celebratory. I believe he is really on the road to quitting completely. I haven't put any pressure on him to quit, stop smoking now, as I realize his quit is his, mine is mine. He has smoked a handful of less in the last 3 weeks. He told me he tried one on Friday at work, and that he didn't like the taste of it. (LOL, we KNOW they don't taste good...)He is quitting partly because he wants to support me in my quit, and partly because he knows he needs and wants to. This is fantastic news for me! His brother who often hangs out with us, and basically only smoked when he was around us, is now smoking almost not at all either. So I feel I have maybe done some good not only for myself but others. FYI: The vast, stop smoking, vast, majority of us do not have that option of having "one", "once in a while". I know that now and am not going to make the mistake again, of thinking I can rewrite the laws of addiction.Rose Ann
